While many people value ginger for its medicinal properties, everyone agrees that it is a great, exotic treat that adds sweet and spice flavors and aromas to a variety of candied recipe inspirations. Also known as candied ginger, or glace ginger, our customers have been using it as an addition to a number of desserts for years. If you have never made ginger snap cookies with crystallized ginger coarsely chopped and mixed in the batter, you don't know what you're missing. Sweet and spicy ginger bars are also a favorite among some of our newer and more adventurous chefs.

Crystallized ginger is a smart candied fruit to have on hand; it is renowned for its healing properties-especially as a remedy for nausea, morning sickness and motion sickness. It also has antioxidant effects and inhibits the formation of inflammatory compounds.

In addition to using crystallized ginger for baking cakes and cookies, it can be mixed in small amounts with other candied fruit, nuts and seeds for a healthy snack alternative. Also, many of our customers use it to sweeten and spice their hot tea.
