Paradise and Pennant Candied Fruit

Cherry Cake Squares with Buttercream Frosting

This tender vanilla cake is filled with red and green glace cherries, which add great flavor and a true holiday look.

Ingredients:

For the Cake:

1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 cups white sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups all-purpose unbleached flour
3/4 cup Red glace Cherries, halved
3/4 cup Green glace Cherries, halved

For the Frosting:

2 cups confectioner’s sugar
1/2 cup salted butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoon milk

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
