Paradise and Pennant Candied Fruit

Georgian Baklava or Pakhlava

This beautiful layered fruity dessert is a modern twist on traditional phyllo desserts and has a wonderful flavor that would be welcomed at any special event.



  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cupcold butter, cut into pieces
  • 2 large eggs, separated
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup dried fruit, chopped Paradise Candied Fruit Mixes
  • 2 tablespoons Bourbon or Brandy
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup finely ground walnuts
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons water


Place flour and baking soda in a large bowl; stir to combine. Cut butter into flour mixture with pastry blender or two knives until mixture forms pea-sized pieces.
