Paradise and Pennant Candied Fruit

Russian Easter Bread

A colorful, fruity sweet , yeast – risen bread flavored with raisins and fruity combination is a treat for a traditional holiday. It is full of candied cherries, candied pineapple, chocolate, orange peel and fresh lemon peel with a hint of cardamon. It makes an excellent dessert bread as well as on any occasions.

Ingredients: 

  • ½ cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup warm water
  • 1 package dry yeast
  • 4 cups flour
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 5 eggs
  • 2 sticks butter at room temperature
  • 1-2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ – 1 teaspoon ground cardamom (optional)
  • 8 oz. candied cherries and candied pineapple
  • ½ cup raisins
  • ¼ cup candied orange peel
  • fresh lemon peel from 1 lemon
  • 1 cup chocolate chips plus more for on top

Frosting:

  • 1 cup confectioner’s sugar
  • 1 – 2 tablespoons milk
  • 3 – 4 tablespoons mini chocolate chips
  • sprinkles

Instructions: 

  1. Heat the milk to just warm with water in the microwave.
